Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 3 item
- pkg - 1 oz
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- flour
- baking powder
- box brown sugar - 1 item
- shortening or 1 1/2 sticks soft margarine or butter - 2/3 c
How to make congo squares:
Sift flour, baking powder and salt together onto wax paper. Cream the shortening and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add dry ingredients, then add nuts and chips. Pour into greased large cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.Note: Batter will be stiff and must be spread on the cookie sheet.
