Congealed salad
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- pkg - 1 oz
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- cold water - 2 c
- Cool Whip - 2 c
- hot water
- miniature marshmallows - 2 c
- egg, well beaten - 1 item
- diced apple - 1 item
- 2 can crushed pineapple, drained
- Topping:1/2 c
- bananas, chopped - 2 item
- jello strawberry-banana or any flavor - 2 pkg
- cherries or coconut to garnish - 1 item
How to make congealed salad:
Mix together jello, hot and cold water; let slightly jell, then add pineapple, bananas, marshmallows and apple; let jell.Topping:1/2 c. pineapple juice3/4 c. sugar1 egg, well beaten1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened2 Tbsp. flour2 c. Cool Whip cherries or coconut (to garnish) Cook pineapple juice, sugar, egg and flour until thick; stir constantly or it will stick. While hot, add cream cheese. When this cools, blend in about 2 cups Cool Whip, then pour topping over jello. You can garnish with cherries or coconut.Recipe categories: Salads, Side dish, Heirloom/historical.
