  • cold water - 1 c
  • boiling water
  • ice cubes - 1 item
  • or 1 large pkg
  • thawed Cool Whip nondairy whipped topping
  • fruit, drained or 1 c - 1 c

How to make congealed salad:

Completely dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Combine cold water and ice cubes to make 2 1/2 cups. Add to gelatin. Stir until slightly thickened. Remove any unmelted ice. Measure 1 cup of the gelatin. Fold into whipped topping. Pour into 8-inch square pan. Chill about 10 minutes. Add fruit to remaining gelatin; gently spoon over creamy layer in pan. Chill until firm (about 3 hours). Cut into squares. Garnish as desired.
