Ingredients/Components
- lean ground beef or more - 1/2 lb
- hot dogs - 1 item
- buns - 1 item
- vinegar or less - 3 Tbsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 2 Tbsp
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- chili powder - 1 tsp
- paprika - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- salt optional - 1/2 tsp
- catsup - 3/4 c
- barbecue sauce - 1/4 c
- water - 1 c
How to make coney island hot dogs:
Brown meat; add remaining ingredients except hot dogs and buns. Simmer until thick, about 1 hour. Cook hot dogs. Place in buns; top with hot sauce. Makes about 3 cups sauce, enough for 12 to 16 dogs.For faster preparation, use only 1/2 cup water. Simmer 15 minutes.
