Cold oven pound cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 c
- sifted flour - 3 c
- shortening - 1/2 c
- stick margarine - 1 item
- large eggs - 5 item
- vanilla flavoring - 1 tsp
- almond or lemon flavoring - 1 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
How to make cold oven pound cake:
Put all ingredients except baking powder in bowl of electric mixer. Start mixer on low speed and beat until all ingredients are well blended. Sprinkle baking powder over batter and beat at medium speed 10 minutes, scraping bowl frequently. Bake in 2 greased and floured 9 x 5-inch loaf pans or a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Put in cold oven, set oven at 350° and bake 1 hour and 10 minutes. (The top of the cake will crack.)Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Low sodium.
