  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • cold water - 2 Tbsp
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • all-purpose flour
  • shredded coconut - 1/2 c
  • chopped walnuts - 1/2 c
  • softened butter - 1/4 c
  • peeled and sliced apples
  • powdered brown sugar - 1/4 c

How to make coconut crunch apple pie:

Filling:4 c. peeled and sliced apples1/2 tsp. cinnamon1/2 c. sugar2 Tbsp. cold water Topping:1/2 c. all-purpose flour1/2 tsp. cinnamon1/2 c. shredded coconut1/4 c. powdered brown sugar1/4 c. softened butter1/2 c. chopped walnuts Crust: Mix together flour and salt. Cut in shortening until the size of small peas. Mix in water by tablespoon until soft dough is formed. Roll out dough on a floured board. Sprinkle with coconut and roll in. Place crust into 9-inch pie pan. Flute edges or press with fork tines.

Mix filling ingredients and turn into crust.

Mix flour, brown sugar and cinnamon. Mix in butter, then coconut and walnuts. Sprinkle evenly over pie. Bake pie at 400° for 40 to 45 minutes; allow to cool before cutting.
