Coconut cream pie



  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • milk - 2 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
  • egg yolks - 3 item
  • margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
  • Meringue:3 egg whites

How to make coconut cream pie:

Meringue:3 egg whites2 Tbsp. sugar1/4 tsp. cream of tartar1/2 tsp. vanilla Mix sugar, cornstarch and salt in pan. Add milk; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick. Beat egg yolks and add to mixture. Cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in margarine, vanilla and coconut. Pour in cooked pie shell and cover with meringue. Beat egg whites until stiff; add cream of tartar, sugar and vanilla. Cook until brown.
