Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2/3 c
- vanilla
- milk - 3 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
- coconut - 3/4 c
- egg yolks, slightly beaten - 3 item
- Gradually stir in milk
- tartar - 1/4 tsp
How to make coconut cream pie:
In saucepan, mix sugar, salt, cornstarch and flour. Gradually stir in milk. Cook until thickens; boil 1 minute. Remove, carefully stir in egg. Blend in butter, vanilla and coconut. Cool; stir constantly. Pour into pie shell. Chill. Top with meringue with toasted coconut.Meringue:3 egg whites1/4 tsp. tartar2 Tbsp. sugar Beat to peak. Add tartar and sugar. Top pie.
