  • coconut - 2 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
  • coconut flavoring - 1 tsp
  • unbeaten egg whites - 2 item

  • Sift and add dry ingredients together; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk

How to make coconut cake:

Cream butter and sugar and add eggs. Sift and add dry ingredients together; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Bake in 3 greased and floured round 9-inch cake pans. Bake at 350° for about 25 minutes. Cool and frost.Never Fail Frosting:1 c. sugar1/4 tsp. salt1/2 tsp. cream of tartar2 unbeaten egg whites3 Tbsp. water1 tsp. vanilla Combine all ingredients except vanilla in top of double boiler. Beat briskly until frosting is fluffy and holds its shape. Remove and add vanilla.
