Ingredients/Components
- self-rising flour - 2 c
- sugar
- buttermilk - 1 c
- Crisco oil - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- eggs - 2 item
- sweet milk - 1/2 c
- Bring to a boil and remove from heat
- Karo syrup - 1/2 c
- water - 2 Tbsp
- cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
How to make coconut cake:
In a saucepan add the sweet milk, sugar and vanilla. Bring to a boil and remove from heat. Pour on each layer before icing. Make holes with toothpick.Filling:2 egg whites3/4 c. sugar1/2 c. Karo syrup2 Tbsp. water1/4 tsp. cream of tartar1/4 tsp. salt In top of double boiler, cook over rapidly boiling water beating with mixer until mixture stands in peaks. Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Continue beating until thick enough to spread. Sprinkle frozen coconut on each layer (I use 2 packages).Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Egg.
