  • milk
  • flour - 1/4 c
  • butter - 1/4 c
  • salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
  • large onion, diced - 1 item
  • medium potatoes, diced - 5 item
  • slices cooked bacon - 2 item
  • cans clams - 3 1/2

How to make clam chowder:

Drain clams and retain liquid. Place potatoes, onion and bacon in saucepan. Nearly cover with clam liquid and water. Cover and simmer until potatoes are tender, approximately 25 minutes.

Make white sauce: Melt butter in large pan. Add flour; stir until bubbly and blended. Add milk. Cook and stir constantly until thick. Add clams to potato mixture. Put clam/potato mixture into white sauce. Heat, stirring just until the boiling point. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
