Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 lb
- flour - 1 lb
- butter - 1 lb
- eggs - 12 item
- lemon, grated and 1/2 juice - 1 item
How to make civil war pound cake:
Dissolve soda (the size of a pea) in 1 tablespoon of cold water. Beat eggs separately and very well. Mix whites last. Fold in carefully. Bake about one hour or until tested with a straw that comes out clean.My grandmother's, Mary Smith Burton and my mother's recipe, Mrs. Lillain Burton Renfroe.
