Ingredients/Components

  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • water - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 2/3 3/4
  • shortening - 1/4 c
  • self-rising flour - 2 c
  • raisins - 1/4 c
  • Gradually add buttermilk; mix very well

How to make cinnamon and raisin biscuits:

Combine shortening with flour; mix until crumbly. Gradually add buttermilk; mix very well. Add raisins and cinnamon; mix completely. Turn out onto floured board. Knead about 10 times until smooth. Cut out with biscuit cutter. Bake at 450°. Bake about 10 minutes. Put icing on biscuits while still warm.Icing:1/2 c. powdered sugar1 tsp. water Mix together; spread on top of biscuits.
