  • granulated sugar - 2 c
  • water - 1 c
  • food coloring - 1 item
  • white corn syrup - 2/3 c
  • oil flavoring - 1/2 tsp

How to make christmas jewels:

Blend sugar, corn syrup and water in a large saucepan. Cook, without stirring, to 300° on candy thermometer. Remove from heat. After boiling has ceased, add flavoring and color. Spread thinly in a buttered pan or tray. Score in 1/2-inch strips or cut with scissors. Break into small pieces and roll in powdered sugar. The candy may be flavored as follows: green - wintergreen, blue - anise or spearmint, yellow - lemon, red - cinnamon, pink - clove, or white - peppermint.
