Chow mein
Ingredients/Components
- shortening - 1/4 c
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- hot water - 3/4 c
- diced meat round steak
- can bean sprouts, drained - 1 item
- celery, cut fine - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- onion, cut fine - 1 c
- water
- La Choy sauce - 2 tsp
- cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
- sugar - 1 tsp
How to make chow mein:
Thickening:1/3 c. water2 tsp. La Choy sauce2 Tbsp. cornstarch1 tsp. sugar Melt shortening in skillet; add meat. Stir and sear quickly. Add onion and fry for 5 minutes. Add celery, pepper, salt and hot water. Cover and cook for 5 minutes. Add drained bean sprouts, La Choy sauce and thickening. Stir lightly and cook for 5 more minutes.
