Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 6 c
  • salt - 4 Tbsp
  • vinegar - 5 c
  • cabbage - 4 lb
  • onions - 4 lb
  • hot peppers - 4 item
  • sweet peppers - 12 item
  • green tomatoes - 24 item
  • box pickle spices, tied in cloth - 1/2 item

How to make chow-chow:

Grind peppers, onions, cabbage and tomatoes. Add salt and let stand 2 or 3 hours. Pour off juice.

Heat vinegar and sugar to boiling. Add mixture and spices. Bring to a boil. Pour into hot, sterilized jars and seal.
