Chop suey
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- brown sugar - 2 Tbsp
- cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
- water - 1/4 c
- molasses - 2 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- chopped celery - 5 c
- soy sauce - 1 c
- chopped onions - 1 c
- can bean sprouts - 1 oz
- beef or chop suey meat, 1/2-inch cubes - 3 lb
How to make chop suey:
Bring meat to boil and pour off water. Add vegetables and enough water to cover meat and vegetables. Cook 1 hour. Add molasses, sugar, salt, pepper and soy sauce. Cook for another 1 1/2 hours. Ten minutes before it is done, add bean sprouts. When finished, thicken with cornstarch and water. Serve over cooked rice.Recipe categories: < 4 hours, Time to make, Main dish.
