Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • brown sugar - 2 Tbsp
  • cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
  • water - 1/4 c
  • molasses - 2 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • chopped celery - 5 c
  • soy sauce - 1 c
  • chopped onions - 1 c
  • can bean sprouts - 1 oz
  • beef or chop suey meat, 1/2-inch cubes - 3 lb

How to make chop suey:

Bring meat to boil and pour off water. Add vegetables and enough water to cover meat and vegetables. Cook 1 hour. Add molasses, sugar, salt, pepper and soy sauce. Cook for another 1 1/2 hours. Ten minutes before it is done, add bean sprouts. When finished, thicken with cornstarch and water. Serve over cooked rice.
