Chocolate walnut squares
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- vanilla - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- confectioners sugar - 1 c
- chopped walnuts - 2 c
- unsweetened chocolate, melted - 2 sq
- butter or margarine, softened - 1 c
- eggs, lightly beaten - 4 item
- sweet milk - 1 c
- flour, packed
- butter or margarine, softened slightly - 1 c
How to make chocolate walnut squares:
Frosting:5 Tbsp. flour, packed1 c. butter or margarine, softened slightly1 c. confectioners sugar1 c. sweet milk2 tsp. vanilla In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add flour and salt; mix well. Fold in walnuts. Spread half in a greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Add chocolate to remaining batter. Mix well. Carefully spread over batter in pan. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes, until tested done. Cool completely.For frosting, mix flour and milk in saucepan. Cook and stir over medium heat until a thick paste forms. Cool completely.
In mixing bowl, cream butter and confectioners sugar. Add vanilla and mix well. Gradually add the paste mixture. Beat for 5 minutes. Frost cake. Store in refrigerator.
