Chocolate truffle cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- semi-sweet chocolate - 16 oz
- flour
- eggs, separated - 4 item
- whipping cream - 1 c
- hot water - 1 tsp
- stick unsalted butter - 1 item
How to make chocolate truffle cake:
Preheat oven to 425°. Grease bottom of 8-inch spring-form pan. Melt chocolate and butter in the top of a double boiler. Remove from heat. Add flour, sugar and water and blend well. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition.In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff, but not dry and fold into chocolate mixture. Turn into pan and bake 15 minutes only. Let cool completely, then chill in the refrigerator.
Whip cream and spread over cake. Cut cake while cold, but let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.
