Chocolate torte

  • butter, softened
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • pkg - 2 1/4
  • milk - 1/2 c
  • unsweetened cocoa powder - 3/4 c
  • sifted powdered sugar

How to make chocolate torte:

Line a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan with waxed paper; set aside. To make frosting, in a bowl beat butter. Add cocoa powder. Beat in 1/4 cup of the milk. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating until combined. Beat in remaining 1/4 cup milk and the vanilla until combined.

To assemble torte, dip each cookie in additional milk. Cover bottom of prepared pan with 6 to 10 cookies, trimming if necessary to fit. Spread about 3/4 cup of frosting over cookies. Continue with remaining cookies and frosting, ending with layer of frosting. Cover; chill 4 to 24 hours before serving.

To serve, uncover torte and invert onto a plate. Remove waxed paper. Cut torte into 1/2-inch slices.
