Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 3 c
- vanilla flavoring - 2 tsp
- cocoa - 4 Tbsp
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- sticks butter room temperature - 2 item
- eggs room temperature - 5 item
- milk room temperature - 1 c
- shortening room temperature - 1/2 c
How to make chocolate pound cake:
Cream butter, shortening and sugar well. Add eggs, one at a time, and blend. Sift together flour, cocoa, salt and baking powder. Add flour and milk alternately, starting and ending with flour. Add flavoring. Bake in large 10-inch tube pan, well-greased and floured. Bake at 315° for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes in pan and cool on rack for 5 minutes. Then turn out onto plate.
