- sugar - 3 c
- eggs - 5 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- butter - 1/2 lb
- cocoa - 1/2 c
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- sifted flour - 3 c
- box confectioners sugar - 1/2 item
- perked coffee - 1 item
- Icing:1/2 stick butter
How to make chocolate pound cake:
Icing:1/2 stick butter1/2 box confectioners sugar perked coffee2 to 3 level Tbsp. cocoa1 tsp. vanilla Cream 1/2 pound butter and 1/2 cup shortening with 3 cups sugar. Add eggs, one at a time and blend well after each. Sift together the dry ingredients and add alternately with milk. Add vanilla. Pour batter into greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 25 to 30 minutes or until done.Prepare Icing: Cream butter; add sugar and cocoa and enough coffee so mixture spreads easily on cake. Add vanilla. Mix well.
