Chocolate pound cake
Ingredients/Components
- granulated sugar - 3 c
- milk
- vanilla extract - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- confectioners sugar - 1 item
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- large eggs - 5 item
- unsweetened cocoa powder - 3/4 c
- unsifted all-purpose flour - 3 c
- unsalted butter, softened
- unsweetened chocolate, grated - 4 oz
- fresh berries and mint sprigs - 1 item
How to make chocolate pound cake:
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour 10-cup 10-inch tube pan. In sifter, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Sift into large bowl. In large bowl with mixer at high speed, beat butter until fluffy. Gradually beat in sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Alternately beat in flour mixture in fourths and milk in thirds, beginning with flour. Beat in grated chocolate and vanilla extract.Pour into prepared pan, spreading top evenly. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until cake tester inserted in cake comes out clean. Cool cake in pan for 10 minutes, then invert on rack. Cool completely. Before serving, dust with confectioners sugar and garnish with berries and mint sprigs.
