Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 c
- stick margarine - 1 item
- evaporated milk - 1/2 c
- cocoa - 4 Tbsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- margarine - 1/2 c
- Karo syrup - 1/4 c
- sifted plain flour - 3 c
- sweet milk - 1 c
- eggs large - 5 item
- Beat in 1 egg at a time; beat well
How to make chocolate pound cake:
Cream sugar, Crisco, margarine and cocoa. Beat in 1 egg at a time; beat well. Add milk and flour (sifted with baking powder) alternately with milk. Beat until well mixed. Bake in well-greased and floured tube pan at 300° for 1 1/2 hours. Ice cake with chocolate icing.Note: Use cocoa to flour pan.Frosting:2 c. sugar1/4 c. Karo syrup1/2 c. evaporated milk2 Tbsp. cocoa pinch of salt1 stick margarine Mix all ingredients together; bring to a rolling boil. Boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and beat with electric mixer until thick enough to spread on cake.
Note: If icing is too thick, add a little more evaporated milk.
