Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 c
- eggs - 5 item
- vanilla - 1 Tbsp
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 3 c
- butter - 1/2 lb
- cocoa - 4 Tbsp
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- box confectioners sugar - 1 lb
- Add sugar and eggs
- chocolate semi-sweet - 2 sq
- cream as needed - 1 item
How to make chocolate pound cake:
Cream butter and shortening together. Add sugar and eggs. Sift dry ingredients together and add vanilla. Add alternately with milk to creamed mixture. Bake in a 9 or 10-inch tube pan at 325° for about 80 minutes.(For plain pound cake, leave off cocoa and 1/2 cup of sugar.)Chocolate Icing:1/4 c. butter2 sq. chocolate (semi-sweet)1 lb. box confectioners sugar1 tsp. vanilla cream as needed Melt butter and chocolate. Add sugar, vanilla and enough cream to spread.
