Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 c
- eggs - 5 item
- vanilla - 1 Tbsp
- milk - 1 c
- butter - 1/2 lb
- cocoa - 4 Tbsp
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- powdered sugar - 1 lb
- plain flour - 3 c
- Sift flour and other dry ingredients
How to make chocolate pound cake:
Cream butter, shortening and sugar; add eggs, one at a time. Sift flour and other dry ingredients. Add alternately with milk mixture. Beat 4 minutes. Grease 10-inch tube pan lightly. Bake at 350° for 80 minutes. Cool on rack 10 minutes.Variation: Use only 1 stick butter, 1 cup shortening and buttermilk in place of milk.Icing:3/4 stick butter5 Tbsp. cocoa1 lb. powdered sugar6 Tbsp. milk
