Chocolate pinwheels
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2/3 c
- milk - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- egg, unbeaten - 1 item
- sifted flour - 2 c
- unsweetened chocolate, melted - 1 sq
How to make chocolate pinwheels:
Sift flour once; measure. Add baking powder and salt and sift again. Cream shortening; add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy. Add egg and milk and beat well. Add flour, small amount at a time, mixing well after each addition. Divide dough into 2 parts. To one part, add chocolate and blend. Roll each on floured wax paper into rectangular shape 1/8-inch thick. Lay plain sheet over chocolate sheet. Remove wax paper. Roll like jelly roll. Chill until firm. Cut into 1/8-inch slices.
