Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- butter - 4 Tbsp
- cornstarch - 4 Tbsp
- egg yolks - 3 item
- cocoa - 3 Tbsp
- cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
- Meringue:3 egg whites
- baked pie crust - 1 item
How to make chocolate pie:
Meringue:3 egg whites1/4 tsp. cream of tartar1/4 c. sugar Combine sugar, cornstarch, salt, cocoa and milk. Cook 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour egg yolks over mixture. Stir fast. Return back to stove. Let cook 5 minutes longer, then add butter and vanilla. Pour into baked 9-inch pie crust.Beat egg whites. Spread meringue over hot filling. Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 350° or until golden brown.
