Chocolate pecan pie bars



  • sugar - 2 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • unsifted flour - 3 c
  • sq - 6 oz
  • eggs, slightly beaten - 4 item
  • Karo syrup
  • butter, soft - 1 c

How to make chocolate pecan pie bars:

Crust: Grease bottom and sides of a 15 x 10 x 1-inch baking pan. In a large bowl with mixer at medium speed, beat flour, 1/2 cup sugar, butter and salt until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press firmly and evenly into pan. Bake 20 minutes in a 350° oven.

Filling: In a 3-quart saucepan stir corn syrup and chocolate over low heat until chocolate melts. Remove from heat. Stir in remaining sugar, eggs and vanilla until blended. Add pecans. Pour filling over hot crust; spread. Bake 30 minutes. Cool in pan. Makes 48 bars.
