Chocolate mint bars



Ingredients/Components
- granulated sugar - 3/4 c
- milk - 1 Tbsp
- butter - 1/2 c
- confectioners sugar - 1 c
- all-purpose flour - 1/2 c
- large eggs - 2 item
- chopped walnuts - 2/3 c
- unsweetened chocolate - 2 oz
- peppermint extract - 1/2 tsp
How to make chocolate mint bars:
Frosting:3 Tbsp. butter1 Tbsp. milk1 c. confectioners sugar1 tsp. peppermint extract1 oz. unsweetened chocolate Bars: Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a 9-inch square cake pan. Place the butter and chocolate in a small heavy saucepan and melt over low heat. Stir to blend and remove from heat. Beat in the sugar, then the eggs. Add the peppermint extract and stir to combine. Add the flour, and mix well; then fold in the nuts. Pour into prepared pan and bake approximately 25 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool before frosting.Frosting: Blend 2 tablespoons of the butter and the milk together in a small mixing bowl. Beat in the sugar, then beat in the extract. Spread this mixture over the cooled baked layer. When the white icing is firm, melt the chocolate and the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter together in small heavy saucepan and combine well. Spread this mixture evenly over the white icing. Cover the pan with aluminum foil and chill tightly covered in refrigerator for up to 1 week.
