Chocolate meringue pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 2 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
- egg yolks - 2 item
- cocoa
- egg whites - 2 item
- margarine - 3 Tbsp
- baked pie shell - 1 item
How to make chocolate meringue pie:
Combine cocoa, sugar, cornstarch and salt in saucepan. Add milk slowly, stirring well. Cook and stir constantly until mixture comes to a boil and is thickened. Stir in beaten egg yolks, one at a time. Cook, stirring constantly, about 3 minutes longer. Remove from heat; stir in margarine and vanilla. Cool slightly. Pour into shell. Beat egg white until foamy throughout. Add sugar. Blend well. Continue until meringue will stand in stiff peaks. Pile lightly on pie filling.
