Chocolate covered cherry cookies
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- vanilla
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour
- cocoa - 1/2 c
- baking powder - 1/4 tsp
- baking soda - 1/4 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- semi-sweet chocolate pieces - 6 oz
- oleo - 1/2 c
- jar maraschino cherries - 1 oz
- Eagle Brand milk - 1/2 c
How to make chocolate covered cherry cookies:
Sift the first 5 ingredients together and set aside. Cream the oleo, sugar, egg and vanilla together. Add dry ingredients. Shape into 1-inch balls. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Press down center of dough with thumb. Drain cherries (reserving liquid). Place a cherry in each cookie. In small saucepan, melt chocolate pieces and condensed milk. Stir in 4 teaspoons cherry juice. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of chocolate mixture over each cherry, spreading to cover cherry. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes. Remove to wire rack to cool.
