salt - 1 tsp
flour
brown sugar - 3/4 c
baking soda - 1 tsp
shortening - 1 c
oatmeal - 2 c
white sugar - 3/4 c
chopped nuts if desired - 1 c

How to make chocolate chip oatmeal cookies:

Cream together the first 5 ingredients. Stir together the flour, salt, baking soda and oatmeal; mix thoroughly and add to the creamed mixture. Add nuts and chocolate chips to the mixture. Bake on prepared baking sheet for 10 to 12 minutes at 375°.
