Ingredients/Components

  • shortening - 2/3 c
  • butter or margarine, softened - 2/3 c
  • granulated sugar - 1 c
  • brown sugar, packed - 1 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 2 tsp
  • Gold Medal flour * - 3 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • 6 oz - 2 pkg

How to make chocolate chip cookies:

Heat oven to 375°. Mix thoroughly shortening, butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla. Blend in remaining ingredients. (For a softer, rounder cookie, add 1/2 cup flour.) Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown. Cool slightly before removing from baking sheet. Yields about 7 dozen.

*If using self-rising flour, omit soda and salt.
