Ingredients/Components

  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • granulated sugar - 1/2 c
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • packed brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • shortening - 1/3 c
  • margarine or butter, softened - 1/3 c
  • all-purpose or whole wheat flour

How to make chocolate chip cookies:

Heat oven to 375°. Mix sugars, margarine, shortening, egg and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until light brown, 8 to 10 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from cookie sheet. Yields 3 1/2 dozen.
