Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • water - 1 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 1/4 c
  • buttermilk - 1/2 c
  • all-purpose flour - 2 c
  • butter or oleo - 1 c
  • plus 2 Tbsp - 1/4 c
  • chopped pecans or walnuts - 1/2 c
  • eggs, slightly beaten - 2 item
  • Chocolate Candy Frosting - 1 item
  • Combine water, butter and cocoa in a heavy saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring constantly

How to make chocolate candy cake:

Combine flour, sugar and soda; mix well and set aside. Combine water, butter and cocoa in a heavy saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Gradually stir into flour mixture. Stir in buttermilk, eggs and vanilla. Pour into a greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. While warm, prick surface at one-inch intervals with a meat fork; spread Chocolate Candy Frosting.Chocolate Candy Frosting:1/2 c. butter or oleo1/4 c. cocoa1 tsp. vanilla1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. evaporated milk1 (16 oz.) pkg. powdered sugar, sifted1/2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts Combine butter, milk and cocoa in a heavy saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Stir in sugar; return to a boil, stirring constantly. Immediately remove from heat. Add vanilla and pecans; stir constantly 3 to 5 minutes or until frosting begins to lose its gloss.
