Ingredients/Components

• vanilla - 1 tsp
• flour
• brown sugar - 1 c
• soda - 1 tsp
• cocoa - 2 Tbsp
• pinch of salt - 1 item
• boiling water - 1/4 c
• egg - 1 item
• shortening - 1/4 c
• sour milk - 1/2 c

How to make chocolate cake:

Cream sugar and shortening; add egg, sour milk with soda, then flour, vanilla and salt. Last, add cocoa dissolved in the hot water. Pour in 8 x 8-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes.
