Ingredients/Components
- butter, softened - 1/2 c
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- oil - 1 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- all-purpose flour - 2 c
- unsweetened cocoa - 3/4 c
- hot coffee - 1 c
- Add oil, coffee and milk; mix at medium speed for 2 minutes
How to make chocolate cake:
Sift together dry ingredients in mixing bowl. Add oil, coffee and milk; mix at medium speed for 2 minutes. Add eggs and vanilla; beat 2 minutes more. Batter will be thin. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9-inch pans. Bake at 325° for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool cakes 15 minutes before removing from pans.Icing:1 c. milk1/2 c. butter, softened5 Tbsp. all-purpose flour1/2 c. shortening1 c. sugar1 tsp. vanilla Combine the milk and flour in a saucepan; cook until thick. Cover and refrigerate. In a mixing bowl beat butter, shortening, sugar and vanilla until creamy. Add chilled milk and flour mixture and beat for 10 minutes.
