  • sugar - 1 c
  • vanilla - 1 Tbsp
  • flour
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cocoa
  • boiling water - 1/2 c
  • egg - 1 item
  • shortening
  • sour milk - 1/2 c

How to make chocolate cake:

Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg and beat well. Sift flour and cocoa. Add to creamed mixture alternately with sour milk and water. Add vanilla. Pour into 2 floured and greased 8-inch cake pans and bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
