Chocolate angel food cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- cocoa - 1/4 c
- almond extract - 1/4 tsp
- egg whites
- cream of tartar
- cake flour - 1 c
How to make chocolate angel food cake:
Sift cocoa, cake flour and 3/4 cup sugar together 4 times. Beat egg whites and salt until foamy. Sprinkle cream of tartar over egg whites; continue beating until stiff, but not dry. Fold in remaining sugar, one tablespoon at a time. Add vanilla and almond extract. Fold in dry ingredients, a little at a time. Pour into ungreased 10-inch tube pan. Bake 60 to 70 minutes at 325°.
