Chili sauce
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 Tbsp
- vinegar
- chopped onion - 1 c
- bay leaf - 1 item
- celery seed - 1 Tbsp
- whole cloves - 1/2 tsp
- mustard seed - 1 tsp
- green peppers - 1/2 lb
- whole allspice - 1/2 tsp
- red peppers - 1/2 lb
- peeled, cored tomatoes - 7 lb
How to make chili sauce:
Tie spices in a piece of cheesecloth. Chop all vegetables. Simmer together until mixture begins to thicken, stirring occasionally. Add sugar and vinegar. Cook, stirring often, until mixture becomes a thick sauce. Remove spice bag. Pack into sterile jars; seal. Makes about 3 pints.Recipe categories: Low protein, Condiments, etc., Main dish.
