Ingredients/Components

  • peck tomatoes - 1 item
  • bunch celery - 1 item
  • onions - 1 qt
  • green peppers - 3 item
  • red pepper - 1 item
  • cinnamon sticks - 2 item
  • cloves - 1/2 tsp
  • dry mustard - 2 Tbsp
  • brown sugar - 2 lb
  • salt - 1/2 c
  • cider vinegar - 1 qt

How to make chili sauce:

Peel tomatoes and chop fine. Cook 15 minutes. Let stand and drain off half juice. Chop other vegetables and add to tomatoes. Simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Tie cinnamon sticks, mustard and cloves in a cloth bag. Add to vegetables with brown sugar, salt and vinegar. Cook for 1 1/2 hours, until vegetables are soft. Pack in pint jars according to canning instructions.
