Ingredients/Components
- lean ground beef - 1 lb
- large onion, chopped - 1 item
- garlic powder - 1 2
- each cans tomato sauce - 2 oz
- chili powder - 3 4
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- sugar - 1 tsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
- crushed red peppers optional - 1/2 tsp
- cans drained kidney beans - 1 2
- can chili beans optional - 1 item
How to make chili:
Cook and stir beef and onion until beef is light brown; drain. Stir in tomato sauce, 1 to 2 cans water, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, pepper, sugar, Worcestershire sauce and crushed peppers (if used). Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 1 hour. Stir in beans. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer uncovered until hot, about 15 minutes. (For thicker chili, continue simmering, stirring occasionally, until desired consistency.) Makes 5 (1 cup) servings.Recipe categories: Lunch/snacks, One Dish meal, Chili.
