Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • vanilla - 2 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • water - 3/4 c
  • egg yolks - 5 item
  • oil
  • baking powder - 3 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • egg whites - 5 item
  • cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
  • lemon - 1 tsp
  • cans cherries - 2 item
  • Cream sugar, oil, egg yolks, water, vanilla and lemon together

How to make chiffon cake:

Sift flour, salt and baking powder together. Cream sugar, oil, egg yolks, water, vanilla and lemon together. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar stiff; fold in cake. Bake at 350° in tube pan for 35 to 50 minutes. You can tell by looking at it when done.Topping:1 c. milk1/8 Tbsp. flour1 c. shortening1 c. sugar1 Tbsp. vanilla2 cans cherries Cook all except cherries until thick; add cherries.
