Chicken in orange sauce
Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- oil - 2 tsp
- raisins - 1/4 c
- orange juice - 3/4 c
- dash of Tabasco sauce - 1 item
- rice - 1 c
- almonds, slivered - 1/4 c
- small can mandarin oranges, drained - 1 item
- dash of cloves - 1 item
- chicken legs or thighs, skinned - 4 item
How to make chicken in orange sauce:
In heavy skillet with lid brown meat in oil. Remove chicken; add flour, cinnamon and cloves to drippings in pan and stir to a smooth paste. Then add orange juice and Tabasco sauce. Stir and cook until mixture thickens. Add along with chicken, the almonds and raisins and simmer until tender (30 to 50 minutes). Then add oranges and cook 5 minutes longer. Cook rice according to package. Serve chicken over rice. Yields 6 servings.Recipe categories: Chicken, Main dish, Poultry.
