Chicken chow mein
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
- vegetable oil - 2 Tbsp
- chopped celery - 1 c
- soy sauce - 3 Tbsp
- chicken broth - 2 c
- chopped onions - 1 c
- chopped parsley - 1 c
- chicken, diced - 1 c
- can bean sprouts, drain and save liquid - 1 item
- can water chestnuts, drain and save liquid - 1 item
- chow mein noodles or white rice, cooked - 1 item
How to make chicken chow mein:
Saute in oil: onions, celery, drained bean sprouts and drained water chestnuts. Cook for 2 minutes. Add cornstarch and soy sauce to liquid drained from sprouts and chestnuts, blending until smooth. Add broth, sugar and parsley to sauteed vegetables; add chicken and last add the cornstarch-soy mixture. Cook until thickened. Serve over rice or chow mein noodles (leftover pork or beef also can be used).Recipe categories: Chicken, Pasta, Main dish.
