Ingredients/Components
- sour cream - 1 c
- butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- 4 oz - 1/2 c
- can condensed cream of chicken soup - 1 1/2
- chopped celery or green pepper - 1/2 c
- softened margarine - 1/2 c
- finely chopped carrot
- cubed cooked chicken or turkey - 2 c
- shredded American or Cheddar cheese - 1/2 1
- ground thyme or sage - 1/2 1
- chopped red pepper or 1/4 c - 1/2 c
How to make chicken bake:
Filling:1/2 c. finely chopped carrot1/2 c. chopped onion1/2 c. chopped celery or green pepper1/2 c. chopped red pepper or 1/4 c. drained chopped pimento2 Tbsp. butter or margarine2 c. cubed cooked chicken or turkey1 (10 1/2 oz.) can condensed cream of chicken soup1/2 c. (4 oz.) drained mushroom stems and pieces Prepare filling; set aside. In small mixing bowl, combine butter, sour cream and egg; beat at medium speed until smooth. Add flour, salt, baking powder and thyme; blend at low speed until thoroughly combined. In ungreased 9-inch pie pan or 12 x 8-inch baking dish, spread batter evenly over bottom and up sides to within 1-inch of rim. Spoon filling into crust. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 400° for 25 to 30 minutes until crust is golden brown. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving. Cut in wedges. Serve hot.Filling: In large frypan, saute carrot, onion and green and red pepper in butter until tender; remove from heat. Add chicken, undiluted soup and drained mushrooms; mix well.
