  • dash of salt - 1 item
  • self-rising flour - 1 c
  • plain flour - 1 c
  • cream - 1/2 c
  • beaten eggs - 2 item
  • salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
  • milk or water - 1 item
  • extra flour - 1 item
  • cut-up hen - 1 item

How to make chicken and dumplings:

Mix the salt and flours. Add eggs and milk to make dough like biscuit dough. Roll dough out to cut in pieces for dumplings, about 1/2 inch square. Put a few at a time in pot with cooked chicken. Do this until all dough is used; stir lightly. Spoon cream on top of dumplings; stir lightly.
