Ingredients/Components
- dash of salt - 1 item
- self-rising flour - 1 c
- plain flour - 1 c
- cream - 1/2 c
- beaten eggs - 2 item
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- milk or water - 1 item
- extra flour - 1 item
- cut-up hen - 1 item
How to make chicken and dumplings:
Mix the salt and flours. Add eggs and milk to make dough like biscuit dough. Roll dough out to cut in pieces for dumplings, about 1/2 inch square. Put a few at a time in pot with cooked chicken. Do this until all dough is used; stir lightly. Spoon cream on top of dumplings; stir lightly.Recipe categories: Chicken, Main dish, Whole chicken.
