- fryer - 1 item
- flour
- salt - 1 tsp
- liquid milk or water - 2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- shortening - 6 Tbsp
How to make chicken and dumplings:
Dumplings:3 c. flour1 tsp. salt2 c. liquid (milk or water)2 eggs6 Tbsp. shortening Boil chicken in a large pot with plenty of water and salt. Set aside. Debone chicken.Dumplings: Mix and roll very thin. Allow to dry or freeze on a cookie sheet, separated with waxed paper, covered with aluminum foil. These can be kept frozen a week or more. Bring broth to a full boil. Drop dumplings, frozen, a few at a time, into broth. Boil about 20 minutes. Add chicken and black pepper.
