Chicken and dumplings
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1/4 c
- flour - 2 c
- evaporated milk
- water - 1 gal
- egg yolks - 2 item
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- garlic powder - 1 tsp
- diced onion - 1/3 c
- chopped celery - 1/4 c
- chopped carrots - 1/4 c
- chopped parsley - 1/4 c
- black pepper - 1 tsp
- boneless chicken breasts - 6 item
- thyme
- rosemary - 1/2 tsp
- to 8 chicken bouillon cubes - 6 item
- 3/4 sticks butter, softened - 1 item
How to make chicken and dumplings:
Dumplings:1/2 c. evaporated milk1/4 c. milk2 egg yolks1 3/4 sticks butter, softened2 c. flour1/2 tsp. baking powder Combine all the broth ingredients, except chicken breasts. Bring to boil and simmer until all vegetables are tender. Add chicken and cook until chicken is done. Remove chicken and reserve.Dumplings: Mix together both milks; set aside. Cream butter and yolks and set aside. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milks. Refrigerate 30 minutes. Roll out to twice the thickness of pie dough; cut into strips. Drop into broth and cook about 15 minutes. Add chicken and cook to heat chicken.
